The logging show
Paintings about logging and the logged landscape. This series is still in progress; for a day to day look at my painting go to my blog.
Each painting is a chapter in the forest story.
All about pattern and the forest.
I spend a lot of time walking in the bush, among trees, getting twigs in my hair.
Observations on the forest over time as it is changed by logging, forest fires, farming and mountain pine beetles. Even the ugly places have their beauty.
After the clearcut
Even though my family works in forestry I was surprised to see the number of cutblocks clearcuts visible on Google earth.
These landscapes are about where I live, Landaluza Road.
In my studies of pine cone patterns, I was intrigued to find that the shapes lift and rise from the ground. I am happy to find some hope; all is not lost, the trees will rise again.
