Field notes

These paintings are observations and documention of the subtle and dramatic changes that happen to the land over time; logging, farming, fires, the seasons and the pine beetles. The changes in the forest are often extremely ugly. I look for beauty in the ugliness, and believe in the ability of the land to recover and regenerate.
