Even though my family works in forestry I was surprised to see the number of cutblocks clearcuts visible on Google earth.

This series of work explores my ambivalent and conflicted ideas about forestry and land use.

Artwork inspired by the Mountain Pine Beetle epidemic in BC.

In my studies of pine cone patterns, I was intrigued to find that the shapes lift and rise from the ground. I am happy to find some hope; all is not lost, the trees will rise again.

I took these photos at the site of the Kenney Dam fire   which burned more than 100 square kilometers in 2004. I liked one of the trees which stood out like a totem.

There is a legend about geese giving a lift to the hummingbirds while they migrate.
